Outpost projects
Concept · Game mechanic
Buffs you level once you beat an outpost; the outpost decides which projects are on offer and how strong each level is, and each project works only where its own scope allows.
An outpost project is a buff you level after you beat an outpost; it cannot be active before. Beating the outpost brings follow-up waves of retaliation ships, the fight the projects are built around. The levels are not kept: every run starts from nothing and you set them again, so no account export or battle log records them.
Which projects you can level depends on the outpost. Outposts are grouped into level tiers, and every tier offers the same projects with stronger values at every level. Elite outposts offer their own set, with more levels per project, plus projects that give a chance to apply Morale to your ship or Hull Breach or Burning to the enemy at the start of a fight. A higher tier keeps those states on for more rounds.
Once active, each project works wherever its own scope allows, not only against the retaliation waves. A retaliation project belongs to one outpost faction and works only in the Defensive Outpost fight, against that faction’s retaliation ships. Hostile projects work against standard hostiles and armadas but not against retaliation ships, PvP projects against players, and ship projects (hull, officer stats) in every fight, on ships launched after they are set. Cargo, mining and hazard projects work outside battle.
Some projects stop working while Tal is on the bridge; the project’s conditions say which.
